WHAT TO WEAR: DEREK LAM TOP TWO WAYS

Wondering what to wear this weekend? I've got you covered. This Derek Lam 10 Crosby top is a must-have basic this season. I've shown you how to wear it two ways but the options are truly endless. Not just for spring and summer, you can wear it later layered under a blazer for fall. I especially love this top with our J. Brand leather skinny jeans and Chelsea Paris snakeskin stiletto sandals but think it is equally cool and casual with boyfriend jeans and sneakers. See below for details and links for all these items and other additional options.

STEAL MEGHAN'S LOOK: THE TUXEDO DRESS

Everyone (me) has gone crazy over Meghan Markle's recent appearance at a performance of Hamilton wearing a short tuxedo/blazer dress. This is definitely a look I'd like to steal and it's a relatively easy one to pull off!

STORE SPOTLIGHT: MIGUELINA "RACHEL" CAFTAN

You couldn't be any chic-er (if that wasn't a word, it is now) this summer with this Miguelina "Rachel" caftan.  Nude-pink lace looks as great for beachy cocktails as it does poolside over a swimsuit!  I'd love to see it with some metallic gold strappy sandals and an armful of bangles. Size XS. Check out the details here.

What to Wear: Date Night

It's still a smoldering 100 degrees here in Texas.  Here's an ensemble that lets you look hot, but stay cool.  I've thrown a little stole in for good measure (hot outside, but cold inside)...  Pair this silk dress with a jacket and wear it well into early fall!

Wear It Now and Later: Coral Jeans

Never fear!  You still have plenty of time to wear those pretty pastel jeans... with the right styling, you can carry this summer's trend right through fall!  I am particularly fond of these J Brand coral 811 skinny jeans, but other shades (mint, lavender and yellow) would look just as great!

Try the Trend: Lace Print

I'm so in love with my new 7 for All Mankind Lace-Print Gummy Skinny jeans that I went in search of some other lace print goodies!

Rihanna looks stellar in Stella McCartney's pajama-inspired lace print ensemble, but you don't have to rock this trend head-to-toe.  Try this Dolce & Gabbana scarf or these Valentino sunnies!  I'd keep colorful prints, (like this Christopher Kane sweater) simple and pair it with white shorts or pants.  The black and white prints are a little more versatile.  I'd like to see the Buckle tee with bright colored denim.  The McQueen bag is utterly versatile and would look fabulous with just about any color!

P.S.  Just a few other items from Etsty that didn't make the original post (but had to share them with you)!

Crop Tops: Yes or No?

I've got to be honest.  When I realized crop-tops were making a comeback, my mind flashed back to the late eighties and early nineties and it was not a pretty picture.  I rocked that trend pretty hard back in high school and college, yet I can't seem to find a single photo.  Seems I might have burned them all once I came to my senses.

I'll admit that this season's are an improvement on the trend, although it is definitely not for everyone.  I'm not in terrible shape, but I'm not so sure I want to highlight the area!  If anything, I might try out Kate Bosworth's look and layer a crop top over a slim tank.

Will you be sporting the crop-top trend this spring and summer?

What to wear to a bridal shower

With June fast approaching, bridal shower season is in full gear!  I'll be attending one this weekend, and it got me thinking about all the fun things I could wear...

Color-blocking 101

Perhaps you like the color blocking trend, but find you are intimidated by selecting separates?  A color-blocked bag or pair of shoes easily pairs with a monochromatic outfit.  One of the easiest color-blocked items to pull of is a top or blouse.  You can almost always add white or black pants for an instant outfit with maximum effect!  Try some of the combinations below...

Try The Trend: Leopard Print Jeans

I go for crazy colorful tops and dresses, but I seem to stick to the basic blues when it comes to jeans... blah.  I guess I haven't really wanted to draw attention to my bottom half.  After seeing so many shots of cute celebs (Danielle Lineker, Hillary Rhoda & Mandy Moore, to name a few) sporting the fantastic feline-inspired Current Elliot style, I finally decided to dip my toe in the leopard-print pant trend.  Not quite ready to spend big on this experiment, I chose a Vanilla Star style just in case these never saw the light of day.  Tons of compliments later, I'm thinking of nabbing the grey version as well!

Pair these with easy knit tops, blazers and stilettos or ballet.  As with other patterns, keep it simple!

1) Vanilla Star jeans, 2) Calypso St Barth tee, 3) Mesh infinity scarf, 4) Rupert Sanderson heels

What to wear with colored denim.

When pairing colors, your best bet is to stick with hues next to or directly across from each other on the color wheel.  If this much color scares you, neutral tones and metallics (champagne and silver) are an easy fix!
